We propose a safety system using LiDAR and camera sensors fusion to reduce accidents occurring in industrial environments. This safety system uses YOLOv5 to detect objects (workers, heavy equipment, etc.) in industrial environments. Distance information to the detected objects utilizes camera and LiDAR fusion information. Calibration was used for camera and LiDAR sensor fusion. Coordinate system matching through calibration enables sensor fusion. The driver can obtain information about the existence of an object and the distance of the detected object. Through the experiment, the detection rate and accuracy of the object detection and the accuracy of the safety detection can be confirmed as 95% of the detection rate and accuracy. In this way, the driver can detect the objects in the blind spot area and make it possible to prevent accidents. |
